Any medication prescribed by the doctor in clinic for a dispensing patient will be put through immediately, we keep as many of the common drugs in stock as possible but sometimes we may have to order items especially for you, our dispensers will inform you when these will be available and if there is likely to be a delay.
Ordering repeat prescriptions
The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:
- using your NHS account (through the NHS website or in the NHS App)
- using the GP online system: SystmOnline
These accounts show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.
You can also:
- tick the boxes against the item required on the repeat prescription slip and place it in the ‘repeat prescription’ box in the surgeries
- phoning the dispensary during opening times
Collecting your prescription
You can usually collect your prescription 5 working days after you have ordered it.
Both surgeries have a dispensary on site, both offering a complete dispensing service. Government regulations allow only patients who live more than a mile from a pharmacy to have their prescriptions dispensed from the medical centre/surgery.
Please see our opening hours page for when to visit.
Non-dispensing patients will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.
You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:
- on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
- at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions
Questions about your prescription
If you need extra help regarding your medication please ask a dispenser for further information as we are always willing to provide assistance if we can.
Our dispensers can answer many of your questions about your medication and will always endeavour to help you. Sometimes the dispenser may need to discuss the query with a doctor, if this is the case they will inform you of this and explain when a comprehensive reply will be available for you.
We do not sell over-the-counter medicines, if you require products that can be bought over-the-counter, please check with a local pharmacy.
The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

What to do with old medicines
Please do not store any unused medicines. Return them to the dispensary for safe disposal. A specialist waste disposal company collects and discards them from the surgery.
About pharmacists
As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:
- coughs
- colds
- sore throats
- tummy trouble
- aches and pains
They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.
Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.
Most pharmacies have a private room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff.
