Most tests (blood tests, ECG, X-rays, smears) are done either in the surgery or at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King’s Lynn.
Please bring samples to the surgery before 11:30am as they are sent to the hospital at midday.
The results of different tests take varying lengths of time to come back.
When the test results will be available
Below is the approximate number of working days for tests ordered at surgery:
- Blood Tests – 5 working days unless otherwise advised
- X-Ray – 2 weeks
- Urine Test – 5 working days
- Biopsy – 8 weeks
- Smear Test – 8 weeks
Getting your test results
Please do not assume that a result is normal if we do not contact you. The surgery will contact you if there is a significant problem with your results, but please contact us for all results as the GP may have made some suggestions or advice based on your results even if there is not a significant problem.
Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:
- in your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- in your SystmOnline account
- by phoning us on Plowright Swaffham 01760 722797 or Plowright Necton 01760 441344, between 2:30pm and 4pm
- as a text message, if you have consented and it is applicable
